Stuck at the Same Weight? Blame Your Set Point (Not Your Willpower)
You’ve cleaned up your meals. You’re skipping the late-night snacks. You’re getting your steps in, drinking the water, maybe even bought a new gadget or joined a new challenge. And still your weight won't budge.
Annoying, right?
This might be a set point thing. And no, that’s not just some trendy phrase people toss around to sound scientific. It’s real. Your body has a built-in preferred weight range, and when you try to drop below it too quickly or in a way that feels unsafe, your body doesn’t just sit back and say sure let’s drop some pounds.
It fights you.
Here's what that can look like:
Your hunger hormones turn up the volume (hi, ghrelin).
Your fullness hormones go quiet (bye, leptin).
Your body unconsciously starts to move less.
Your metabolism slows down just enough to make progress feel impossible.
And to make things worse? Your body might start holding onto extra water weight just in case. Like it's prepping for a famine that isn’t coming.
None of this means you're broken. It means your body is trying to protect you. It doesn’t understand that you're chasing confidence, not running from lions.
Set point isn’t fixed forever. But shifting it takes more than cutting calories or doubling workouts. It takes a better approach, one that actually makes your body feel safe enough to let go.
So if you’ve been doing all the right things and still feel stuck, maybe it’s not about doing more. Maybe it’s time to change the signals you’re sending.
Because your body listens.
In fact, programs like Evolution and RE|BURN are literally designed to target the set point. They use structured signals, not guesswork. So your body starts to adapt in the right direction.
